Not as many know about the other hat he wears as Vice President of Marketing at Fender Guitars. There, Watts helps other talented artists share their music with the masses. Lyte Chief Revenue Officer Lawrence Peryer digs into how Matt went from the band to the executive suite in the second episode of Lyte’s new podcast series, “Spot Lyte On…” In the episode, which dropped today, Watts shares the compelling story of his life and career. ![1_4_iu28v1gf5aiebomi9jaq](https://resources.eventgenius.live/hubfs/Marketing/Imported_Blog_Media/1_4_iu28v1gf5aiebomi9jaq.png) Watts describes how his experience in The Starting Line taught him something he didn’t expect — the business side of the music industry. He spent many years juggling playing guitar with booking shows and other managerial-type work for the band. That training set him up in his current day job, where he oversees Fender’s artist marketing initiatives. Recently, Watts developed and launched Fender Next, which features 50 global artists who are reshaping music and culture. “Spot Lyte On…” airs on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, and Google Podcasts. Last month’s premiere episode was an interview with Ben Lovett of Grammy-winning Mumford & Sons. The Thursday, April 2nd episode is a conversation with David Goldberg, a live entertainment veteran who shares his views on the current state of the industry. The episodes air on the first Thursday of every month. Some, including the interviews with Lovett and Watts, are also being filmed. “Spot Lyte On…” is the brainchild of Peryer, who touches upon his decades of work in the industry to take listeners deep inside green rooms, control rooms, and boardrooms — the places where many of the most compelling cultural experiences in the world begin. The podcast is an extension of Lyte’s commitment to bringing great live events to more fans everywhere. **About Lyte** Lyte’s mission is to fill every seat and make ticketing delightful, making it easier for fans to attend more events.
